If I were king? How about {va'o lenu mi nolraitru [da'i]}?

Yes, definitely. How would you say:

John would have gone to Edinburgh, but it was unexpectedly sunny
    so he stayed in England.

I have thought of turning the English around like this,

Under conditions other than unexpectedly sunny
John would have gone to Edinburgh, but instead
    he stayed in England.

Alternatively

Motivated by the unexpected sun, John stayed in England
and did not go to Edinburgh.

Both of these seem awkward.
