Assistant Professor, Student Success Librarian

APPLICATION DEADLINE: The search will remain open until the position is
filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by

This position is a 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment at the
Assistant Professor level. The position will be a calendar year appointment
with an expected start date of July 2020.

The University of Rhode Island University Libraries seeks a highly
motivated individual to use collaborative and innovative approaches to lead
the Libraries’ efforts to develop a supportive learning and research
environment with emphasis on undergraduate first-year, international, first
generation, and transfer students for overall student retention and success.



Informed by the University’s mission and strategic priorities, this
position will expand the Libraries’ instruction in information literacies
(including data literacy, media literacy, etc.) by designing, creating,
coordinating, teaching, and assessing key first-year courses and programs,
general education courses, and grand challenge courses connected with the
College of the University Libraries.



Duties and Responsibilities:

   - Work collaboratively with others in the Libraries to support the
   teaching and research initiatives of both the Library and University.
   - Design innovative outreach programming to connect underserved
   populations with the Libraries’ resources.
   - Teach sections of Library credit-bearing courses.
   - Coordinate select library partnerships (e.g. the Library portion of
   the Introductory Writing program)
   - Deliver classes and workshops to support information literacies across
   the University and collaborate on the creation of instructional materials,
   outcomes, and activities.
   - Develop assessment tools and assess classes, tools, and student
   information literacies development especially as related to student success
   and retention.
   - Maintain awareness of innovations and trends within the library and
   education professions and propose, implement, and promote services and
   technologies that adopt new models of teaching and learning.
   - Commit to continuing development of teaching skills and on-going
   evaluation and self-assessment of teaching.
   - Foster an environment of accessibility, inclusion, and respect.
