thanx for a great year

I want to close the year thanking everyone on the list who participated,
and expressing appreciation for all of your support. We made a lot of progress,
and firmly established our presence on the net, and made ourselves known
(zabna, not mabla) to the linguistics community. While no books were published,
some outstanding work by John Cowan has moved us far closer to getting books
out, and the books will be a couple of orders of magnitude more useful when
they do appear. I also want to express particular appreciation to Nick
Nicholas for a whole bunch of Lojban translations and expressions, inspiring me
and many others into believing the language is for real, also to Ivan and Mark
S. for their writings and commentaries on others, to And Rosta for some
pleasing and challenging intellectual discussion (not to denigrate a bunch of
the rest of you who also strained my brain at times), to Rory Hinnen, Jim Carter
and Russell Whitaker for collectively getting the LA Group going, and to Nora,
Sylvia Rutiser, and Athelstan here in DC for making it a full year of weekly
Lojban conversations. Finally I want to thank Eric Raymond for snark, and
Jerry Altzman for the new incarnation of Lojban List on cuvmb, Mark S. and J
Jerry A. for the Planned Languages Server, and Dave Cortesi and Bob Chassell
for support on product development and distribution on the Mac, and via
electronic distribution respectively.

Oh, and financial. We squeaked through. The December fund raiser has generated
about 30 responses so far and some $1200, enough to keep our losses for the
year under $1000. If the rest of you send in your JL request forms, and
hopefully some money, we'll start 1992 off right.

Expect an early JL16, and 1 or 2 books within a few months. No dates set, and
I won;t set them till I'm ready to go to the printer with the first one.

Keep it up, learn Lojban, and help spread the word. May 1992 be better than
1991.

ki'eco'omi'e lojbab.
