Just in time for Christmas: Satyr Satire
Posted on December 19, 2003 @ 8:10 am
Is it just me, or does this 2003 holiday postal stamp have a weird pagan vibe to it–what with the anthropomorphic reindeer, antlers, hooves, and Pan flute?

I’m just saying. Of course, I’m still not quite sure how the gaudy purple and yellow pants and suspenders fit in to the overall Dionysian allusion. Maybe it’s actually a depiction of the dreaded Luchataur–the half-deer, half-Mexican-wrestler creature of legend.

Cllearly the reindeer has just stolen MC Hammer’s pants.
You know, as I was writing this entry, I briefly pondered which was funnier–Hammer pants or Mexican wrestlers. I’m still not sure that I made the right decision.
That stamp is why I chose the snowmen this year.
First thing that came to my mind was neither MC Hammer, nor Mexican wrestlers.
No, it made me think of a fat Lakers cheerleader in spandex.
I mean, isn’t that appropriate? Such a creature doesn’t exist any more than Santa…
first of all, that is not pan, pan has the head of a man. 2nd of all that is not a pan flute, that is a bundle of dynamite. and C, why the HELL is he wearing jogging pants?!
