After shopping around for the past couple of months, I ordered a new computer system from the fine folks at Dell earlier today. On the off-chance that anyone reading this blog is also currently in the market for a new system, Dell has some great promotions running for the next couple of days, including a free 48x CD-RW drive, a double memory upgrade, a free 80GB hard drive upgrade, and a $200 instant rebate. By the time you take all of those into account, it’s a tough deal to resist.

Dude! You’re getting a Dell!
Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I highly recommend Dell. Heather got an amazing system from them this year and I love my Dell server (even if I’ve never seen it). My next system will be a Dell too. I’m done with trying to build and repair my own systems. It’s too much hassle.
My last two systems have been Dell Dimensions, and I’ve loved them both. Until I stumbled across this particular set of promotional deals, though, I was seriously considering going with a cheaper Gateway. All the freebies and rebates, however, made Dell more than competitive in terms of price. That being said, going with the Dell was a fairly easy decision considering my past experiences with the company–as opposed to Gateway, with which I tend to associate a wide range of bad things (including, but not limited to, cows).
