As I said, I would post updates whenever I reached certain milestones with my game, so here we are!
As of last night, "Incinerations" is half-finished, meaning in my case, that half the game is now playable with all the scripting, graphics, and cut-scenes in place and fully tested. Excluding the time spent on the other fan-games I've been working on, the production timeline on this has averaged out to 14 months so far.
There will be original music for the game, once my main music man is ready to go (or if anybody else wants to step up to the plate and take a crack at it.) I've also been learning to play piano and use FL Studio 7 too, just in case.
I'm still keeping a lot of the plot details under wraps, but here's The Story So Far:
This adventure revolves around Roger's pathetic life ten years after the events of SQ6, where the galaxy has become a darker place, StarCon has disbanded, and a new military power has risen in it's place. Times have been hard on Roger - he's been busted down to Janitorial Assistant, he's consistently broke, he's terrorized by scary new technology, his luggage is missing, and make matters worse, Beatrice has just dumped him for a space marine (this is what happens when you go long enough without a sequel.)
But things look up for Roger when a new force threatens to destroy the universe, and he has a chance to stop it, win back the girl of his dreams, and pick up the shattered remains of his life in the process. But does Roger still have what it takes to save the universe after so many years, or has he finally gotten himself way over his head with this mid-life crisis of his?
(The original teaser trailer from a couple years back.)
And finally some screenshots, including a couple awesome character designs by Akril (I'll try to keep these as spoiler-free as possible.)
The style of the game will be mostly inspired by today's more hardcore science-fiction movies and video games, and I consider the works of Jane Jensen and Tim Schafer to be a big influence in the way I'm writing it. So I'll do my best to come with a unique SQ experience for everybody.
It's getting there! _________________ "Submit your Archie captions for happy fun today." - Pstonie |
