I eventually finished the game with maximum points, after I finally realized that I have to "take hair" twice.

On my computer, the score in SQTLC is not like in the URL http://wiw.org/~jess/tlcpoints.html

The high score, as appears at the top of the screen, is 255 - not 510.

And one strange thing: as soon as I turn on the warp (at the bottom of the grey crashed ship) - the score is reduced from 245 to 4.

I would like to ask if it happens to other people, or it's just my computer.

The score is stored in a single byte (back when AGI was made, computers had very limited memory), which is only capable of storing a number in the range from 0 to 255.

So once you get to 256 points, it starts over from 0 until you reach 255 for the second time, adding up to 510 (or 511 by my count, actually).

So while the score seems to be reduced from 245 to 4, it's technically raised to 256+4 = 260 instead.
