Heya.
Just wondering, does SQ4 Cd version have copy protection?
I seem to remember the disk version having copy protection, but I'm not sure.
I think it had something to do with the time codes. Smile
I don't remember much, but I remember time codes being in the magazine that came with the game.
The collectors edition I have doesn't seem to list any copy protection for SQ4 (only for Sq1 and sq5).

Thanks.Smile

As far as I'm aware (and keep in mind that I don't own SQ4-CD), the CD version did not have copy protection.

The disk version had a copy protection screen that popped up just after you entered the timepod for the first time, but it wasn't "part of" the game, so to speak. It involved entering the coordinates of pseudo-mathematical expressions as given on a grid in the manual. After this was correctly done, you were returned to the game proper.

PS - I once located a crack that bypassed this.
PPS - Problem was, it also disabled saving or restoring from any but the first slot.

I hate to admit it, but my original copy of SQ4-Disk (which my dad got from one of his friends when I was just a kid) had a crack to bypass the codes. The game would allow you to enter any symbols at all and let you pass, as long as you A) ran the crack program when you played, and B) pressed a certain key on the keyboard just prior to entering the code.

Of course, I still HAVE this version, but I only play the CD version now. ;D
