Space Quest Character Survey

The polls have closed in the Broomcloset character survey and all the votes have been tallied. Although it was a close race in the favorite Space Quest character category, a clear winner pulled away for the win during the last few days of voting. So, ladies and gentlemen, your winner is...

Fester BlatzFester Blatz
With over eleven percent of the total vote, Fester Blatz was the clear winner in the favorite character category. For those of you who might not be familiar with Mr. Blatz (shame on you!), he's the salesman extraordinaire who first appeared running the World O'Wonders on the bustling planetoid of Phleebhut in SQ3. He later popped up again in SQ6 as the proprietor of Implants-N-Stuff, a quasi-legal operation on the streets of Polysorbate LX. What helped Fester win this honor? His friendly personality? Doubtful. His great bargains? Probably not. His sense of personal hygiene? I don't think so. It's hard to pinpoint just why Fester has won over the hearts of so many Space Quest fans out there. Check out this exclusive interview with Fester for some more insight into the winner of the Broomcloset character survey.

Coming in a close second in the polls was Droole, the Eureka's trigger happy weapons officer in SQ5. Following in third place was followed another SQ5 character--Spike, Roger's face hugging, acid dripping pet. Other characters making strong appearances included Bea Wankmeister, Cliffy, the Latex Babes, and Roger Jr. For full results, see below.

Bea Wankmeister Favorite Love Interest for Roger
This category wasn't quite as close as the favorite character category. As a matter of fact, it was a total landslide! Beatrice Wankmeister brought home a whopping 64% of the vote, proving that she's the gal most Space Quest fans want to see Roger end up with eventually. Bea first appeared in the end sequence of SQ4, when Roger Wilco was shown a holodisk of his future wife by his time-ripping son, Roger Jr. Roger later encountered her in person during SQ5, when he saved the ambassador from the mutagenic effects of the pukoid sludge. For more info on Ms. Wankmeister, check out the classic Broomcloset feature Bea's Diary. The other candidates in this category--Corpsman Stellar Santiago and Latex Babe Zondra--tied with 18% of the vote each.

The Fish Other Survey Information
As a pure testament to his popularity, Roger Wilco received four percent of the vote--coming in at twelfth overall--despite the fact that it was clearly stated that he would not be included in the survey. Other interesting write-in votes included the "ultra-cool" guy from the Orion's Belt in SQ6, the Software Excess employee in the Galaxy Galleria in SQ4, and bum from Polysorbate LX (all of whom received the same number of votes in the favorite character category as Stellar). However, without a doubt, the strangest write-in vote was cast for (drumroll please)... the fish from SQ6.

Well, that's about it. I'd like to thank everyone who voted in the survey! Be sure to stay tuned to the Broomcloset for the next survey!
