Lost-vivor: “Because You Left” & “The Lie”

Posted on January 22, 2009 @ 8:48 am

Due to the always-untimely intervention of real life, Lost-vivor will be delayed for a couple of days. In the meantime, feel free to discuss the Season 5 premiere below.

Well I guess I’ll start it off, what the hell?

  2. fizzgig January 22, 2009 10:10 am

AWESOME! I loved the time travel concept. Looking back at past seasons, this all makes sense. “ghosts” arent on the island, it’s them traveling in time. Walt coming back before shannon got shot? probablly went back to save her. It explains how albert (rupert? i forget) is able to always be the same age whenever he was on the show.

I think there are two lockes….one on the island and one in the real world.

And I cant wait to see who else comes back thru “time” this season!!! I want to see Charlie!

I shouted WHAT about 4000 times. Incredible episode. They do truly seem to be answering more questions than they’re raising. I am still deliciously mind-boggled by it all. That first glimpse of Daniel! I shrieked and shrieked. I can’t wait to see how our people rated in the Lost-vivor rankings! (Well, I can wait, actually. Take your time! Worth waiting for!)

    return of frogurt!!! *snert*

Frogurt should be more careful about what he wishes for….He certainly got FIRE in the end!

Love the comment from fizzgig. Was totally impressed with the episode, I thought it was a great start to what I imagine is going to be a great season. I’ve been telling people for years that the writers of Lost know what they’re doing and they’ve had a plan, but now it looks like we’re going to finally start getting some of the closing details. It’s gonna be a great ride. There were many times last night where I thought, “Oh, that’s gotta be some Lost-vivor points.” Look forward to the entry.

The entire time that Locke was by the drug plane I was waiting for Boone to randomly show up. That would have been hilarious. I wonder who they’re gonna bring in next?

  9. Datadog January 22, 2009 4:22 pm

Sayid wins this week for impaling that guy on a dishwasher!

Also - EVERYBODY’S time traveling?! Fantastic! I can’t wait to see what kinds of crazy things the Losties find out they’re responsible for!

Actually, if Locke returns to one of the first events that occurred on the island, it might explain why he’s so highly favored by it. Maybe he’s the one who ends up unleashing the smoke monster.

  10. Danny January 22, 2009 4:26 pm

Yea there were definitely some times where I was like, lost-vivor points! Sawyer gave out so many nicknames!

  11. Bre January 22, 2009 4:49 pm

WOW! What a way to re-start this series!! Love it!!
Hate what happened to Hurley though so glad he rejected Ben’s offer.

I’m wondering why Claire didn’t want Liz to “Bring him [Aaron] back” - what would happen if she did?
Does this mean there’s another group out there? Ben trying to get _everyone_ back vs. Claire’s - looking for only a select few?

    Can’t wait til next week!
Also, can’t wait for the scores! I give the Fire Arrows a +10 for killing this eposide’s Red Shirt (or is using a ST term on a Lost site wrong? I’m confused :-} )

  12. Bre January 22, 2009 4:50 pm

    forgot to add:
The return on Ana-Lucia - Did NOT see that coming at all.

  13. Pstonie January 22, 2009 6:15 pm

From what I’ve heard I’m happy to wait.

If a guy in a DeLorean shows up though, someone should seriously let me know.

  14. Iain January 22, 2009 7:42 pm

Phew, you’re back. I was worried for a minute there!

That scene with the plane was the best. My only quibble is that it should have come before Daniel explained everything; it would have blown my mind even more.

    Oh, and Vincent cameo!

@daye, ParrotheadNut- someone on the message board I hung out in during the show literally said “I hate Frogurt, and I hope he dies in the worst way possible” ~ 30 seconds before that scene.

  15. Julep January 22, 2009 10:10 pm

Jess - it’s great to have “Lost” and “Lostvivor” back! Take your time…we’re looking forward to your post when life allows.

The episodes were awesome from the first moment to the last, and I loved all the time-travel! I was definitely not disappointed!

  16. Marisa January 23, 2009 10:14 am

I blogged recently that I look forward to Lost-vivor almost as much as I look forward to the actual episodes of Lost. :) I’m mildly dismayed that there is no instant lost-vivor gratification but I’ll get over it as soon as I’m chuckling maniacally at the pithy comments and points awarded.

I’m hoping Hurley gets massive amounts of points for heart-ing Shih tzus and for telling Sayid that maybe if he ate more comfort food he wouldn’t have to kill people. Loved it!

  17. gaelicgopher January 23, 2009 5:18 pm

Locke is totally Jacob. Remember that brief glimpse we got of him? I’m just saying it’s future Locke all over.

  18. Ange January 24, 2009 9:50 pm

I posted some of my own thoughts about the AMAZING and very confusing premier:

  19. lostnerd January 25, 2009 11:59 pm

    when is lostvivor gonna start?

  20. Ingrid January 26, 2009 10:54 pm

Hurley throwing the hot pocket at Ben was so funny! All of Hurley’s scenes are usually hilarious, but that was great! But what’s up with not using the crisping sleve? Hmmm. . . =)

  21. hilker January 27, 2009 12:01 am

Leverage also had a Hot Pocket minus the sleeve last week, oddly.

  22. Iain January 27, 2009 12:40 am

And if you used the sleeve, you could get a lot more distance!

  23. Holly January 27, 2009 12:53 am

How long will it take! I’ve been waiting so long for a new Lostvivor… Quick! Push real life aside…

  24. Kristen January 27, 2009 1:05 am

ditto. I’ve checked everyday. But it’s cool, as a Lost watcher, I’m used to waiting.

So, I know that all Asians aren’t related but I really think that Miles is Marvin Candle’s baby which would explain why he is so comfortable on the island and maybe why he has mind powers. Maybe Daniel, Miles and Charlotte grew up together on the island….dunno.

  25. Danny January 27, 2009 8:54 am

O man Kristen I didn’t even think of that, I love new theories!!

  26. Holly January 27, 2009 9:44 am

I agree, Kristen! Does Miles not recognize Charlotte then? It almost seems as though he would have acknowledged them growing up together - although, who knows if that is next week’s big reveal or something!

  27. Buzd January 27, 2009 2:08 pm

Dude, you are really dropping the ball. After waiting forever for Lost to come back and then you delay like this. Any way, I was actually in Hawaii for the season premiere and went to the Rainbow Drive-In, the burger joint that Hurley and Sayid stop at. It is on Oahu, http://www.rainbowdrivein.com , next to a really great shave ice place, Waiola Bakery & Shave Ice. That was quite a pit stop for burgers going from LA to Honolulu. Actually it is pretty cool that the show is supporting those small businesses in Hawaii. I also say that Ben should get points by escaping death by Hot Pocket. That molten cheese is devastating.

The 2nd Best thing to watching LOST is reading Lost-vivor. Where is my Lost-vivor, brotha? I’m deprived!

  30. mickey January 28, 2009 12:58 am

has anyone tried calling the phone number that kate had on her phone for jack? i’d be interested to see if that has something important on it. i’m not putting it past the writers to put a clue in like that

  31. Datadog January 28, 2009 2:26 pm

Gah! Lost is on tonight and I have no idea who’s in the lead for Lost-vivor! Is it for Sayid for killing those guys? Is it Locke for getting a compass present? Is it Hurley for loving Shitzus? We need Double Lost-vivor tomorrow!

  32. Bre January 28, 2009 3:26 pm

oops! no idea why I called Kate “Liz”.
New episode tonight! can’t wait :D

  33. lostnerd January 28, 2009 7:56 pm

have we already seen both because you left and the lie or is the lie on tonight?

  34. David January 28, 2009 8:01 pm

Both were on last week, they formed the 2 hours of goodness. Jess, I don’t think I caught what’s caused you to delay your excellent blog. Whatever it is, I hope it passes soon and you’re able to once again entertain us with your excellent take on our favorite show.

  35. Andre January 28, 2009 9:14 pm

On a whim, we tried the phone number…

It was a good idea though.

  36. lostnerd January 29, 2009 7:13 pm

    aww im dyin here

  37. Danny January 29, 2009 9:45 pm

Heyo, Jess, can we at least get a post saying you’re alright? Take your time and all but don’t leave us completely hangin

  38. Iain January 29, 2009 10:26 pm

Give him a break, guys. Real life is tough to shake off your tracks.

  39. Marisa January 30, 2009 11:47 am

Oh dear Lost-vivor where are thou?

  40. Robby Rob January 30, 2009 1:33 pm
