Green Arrow’s (Potentially Deadly) Fruit Snacks

An unaltered panel from 1981’s DC Super Heroes Super Healthy Cookbook. No offense, Green Arrow, but are you sure that’s the most responsible way to teach kids how to make a fruit skewer?

I’d like to know where they grow those mutant apples that are as big as a kid’s head.
It’s a normal-sized apple; the poor kid just suffers from microcephaly.
Dang. He still doesn’t look like he’ll miss. He needs to be standing much, much further back for this to achieve it’s full comic potential.
I appreciate the inclusion of all the token types of children. What a thoughtful artist!
@Leah: For good measure, the original image included a vaguely Scandinavian-looking boy standing in the back with a watermelon on his head. Sadly, I had to crop him out to fit the image on the page.
I love that the “motion lines” drawn around the kids suggest that they aren’t actually standing still. Five bucks says that Green Arrow kills at least one of them in the name of “healthy” eating. If you ask me, they’re “taking part in the creation of a great new fruit snack” in the same way that a lab rat “takes part” in the creation of a great new pharmaceutical product.
I like the chubby kid in the Superman tee. “What’s ‘fruit,’ Green Arrow?”
