The Physically-Fit Four

Is it just me, or does the upcoming Fantastic Four movie look awful?

What’s the real reason behind the delays on Season Three of Chappelle’s Show? It seems Dave is busy playing World of Warcraft.

Litigation Cosby

Bill Cosby, sick and tired of kids today with the hippin’ and the hoppin’ and the cartoons on the Internet, slaps House of Cosbys with a cease-and-desist, you see.

Pass the Geritol

Posted on June 28, 2005

I threw my back out last night. How did I do it? Well, I turned my head to the left. Seriously — that’s it. I was standing still, turned my head to the left to look at something, felt a stabbing pain near my right shoulder blade, and started crying like a little girl.

If this is what it’s like to be 28, I don’t think I can handle 30.

If the Sith are always running around Force Choking people, why don’t Jedi Knights learn the Force Heimlich as a counter-maneuver?

Brains… arf! Brains… arf!

Brains…brains…arf! Scientists create zombie dogs. Quite possibly the biggest breakthrough in the field of canine necromancy in the past twenty-five years.

Randal Graves of Clerks fame on Herbie the Lovebug: not “a benevolent Volkswagen, but rather a German hate-machine possessed by the spectre of Adolf Hitler.”

Where I’ve been (and the truth about Kubiak)

Posted on June 27, 2005

Thanks to everyone who commented and sent e-mails over the past couple of weeks to ask if everything was okay. Here’s the short version of what’s been going on lately. First, my mom had a minor stroke about a month and a half ago. Thankfully, she suffered no major debilitating effects, but the incident did reveal a 90-percent blockage of her carotid arteries. She just had surgery to clear one of the blocked arteries this past Friday, and everything went great. She’s recovering well, and they’ll operate on the other artery sometime within the next month.

Meanwhile, my father-in-law passed away roughly two weeks ago. As always, the K-Girl has proven herself tough as nails, but it’s been a difficult month or so around these parts. Anyway, I’m hoping that everything will be getting back to normal now (or at least as close to normal as it ever was).

Oh, and to address the most common question I’ve received in my absence, the entry about meeting actor Abraham “Kubiak” Benrubi was legit. As implausible as it may sound, Abe (we’re on a first-name basis now) owns a Belgian restaurant in Indianapolis, and he just happened to show up while I was dining with the in-laws that evening. It turns out my brother-in-law knows the guy, so he introduced us and we chatted for about five minutes. Unfortunately, I didn’t know the proper etiquette when it comes to discussing an actor’s work, so we managed to talk for five minutes about Belgian cuisine without ever acknowledging he was FREAKING KUBIAK FROM PARKER LEWIS! Sigh…what a missed opportunity.

Somebody get me a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a sharp knife

Apparently, our brains are hardwired to recognize celebrities. I’ve long suspected that a partial lobotomy was the only way to rid my mind of the likes of Paris Hilton.

*dusts off blog*

So, uh, I’ve been out of town and away from the computer for the past couple of weeks due to a family-type emergency. And now I’m leaving again for a few days. I’m still alive, though, and I should be blogging on a regular schedule again starting next week.

See you soon!

OMG!!!!!

Posted on June 16, 2005

I so totally met Kubiak from Parker Lewis Can’t Lose at dinner last night. He was all like, “Hey, man.” And I was all like, “Nice to meet you.”

Best birthday ever!

Back soon

Posted on June 14, 2005

I’m going to be away from the computer (and, hence, my blog) for the next few days. Just a heads-up, so you don’t think I smothered to death in my ridiculously warm house or anything.

My dog just melted

You know what’s awesome? Having your air conditioner break down without warning. You know what’s even more awesome? Having your air conditioner break down when you live in a house with all the windows painted shut. You know what’s even more awesome than that? Having it happen when it’s 93 degrees outside.

That’s pretty awesome.

UPDATE (11:52PM): How can it possibly be hotter at midnight in this Godforsaken sweatbox than it was at four o’clock this afternoon? Seriously, yo.
