Mmm… bicameralism

Whenever I find myself teaching legislative politics, I can’t help but think back to a class presentation delivered by a fellow student back in my own undergrad days. He was discussing the U.S. Congress and its two-house structure, but instead of referring to it as a bicameral legislature, he kept mistakenly pronouncing it as “bicaramel.” You know, as in caramel candy — only with twice the caramel, I suppose. He went on to repeat the gaffe about a zillion times over the course of his ten-minute presentation. Now, whenever I cover the U.S. Congress or British Parliament, their “bicaramel” structure is all I can think about.
New bicaramel legislatures — a delicious form of government, now with twice the caramel and a crunchy nougat center!

And, that man went on to become President of the United States!
“As president, I am corncerned about nucular prolifteration on the Ko-rean Penichilla.”
That explains why everything ends up stuck in committee.
That’s about like the girl in church the other day that said “toonami” a million times instead of “soonami.” I guess that happens when you watch too much cartoon network.
Twix is definitely bicaramel. Except for the little stubby singles you get at halloween. Would those be semicaramel?
I think the single twix are unicaramel.
My son was a spontaneous reader. He actually taught himself how to read by the time he was three. One of the side effects of his gift is that he mispronounces a lot of words. For example, he still pronounces SWORD with the “W” sound. He does this because he learned many words before ever hearing anyone else actually SAY them.
At first impression, some folks might think he’s not too bright, except, of course, he’s a genius. This is why I’m not too quick to judge when I hear someone mispronounce a word–unless it’s G.W. He’s a moron.
I hear that the Saudi government has a bi-camel system.
I like bricks.
