Random Ten Movie Quotes Game

Posted on March 25, 2005 @ 4:40 pm

This week, instead of having you guess song lyrics for my Friday random ten, I’ve picked ten movies from my DVD collection and chosen a quote from each. I’ll strike each line out after it’s been identified correctly.

1. “Jefe, would you say I have a plethora of piñatas?”

2. “Oh, what’s really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn’t said anything?”

3. “You’ve managed to kill just about everyone else, but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target.”

4. “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room.”

5. “You have my Punisher War Journal #6, my copy of Fletch, and the remote control to my TV. Now, I know it’s going to be hard to give this stuff up because of its sentimental attachment…”

6. “Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.”

7. “…when suddenly an unconscious Argentinean fell through my ceiling. He was then joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.”

8. “You can’t buy a bag of peanuts in this town without someone writing a song about you.”

9. “Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is… maybe he didn’t?”

10. “There are only two things I can’t stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people’s cultures… and the Dutch.”

No Googling the answers, or I’ll sic my bloodthirsty cocker spaniel on you.

Well, number 4 is from one of my alltime favorites…
Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb! Wee heeee. Peter Sellers was sooo good in that…and so was Slim Pickens!

Wow…these must be too easy. Only three left!

    #6 - Tennenbaums?

  8. jessica March 25, 2005 6:36 pm

    erf, #9, not #6.

  9. Jess March 25, 2005 7:56 pm

Yep, #9 is The Royal Tenenbaums. One of my favorite moments from the film.

Okay, when you’re done, I posted 10 not-so-random quotes of my own:

How the hell could no one have gotten #3 yet? It’s Kirk (William Shatner) to Khan (Ricardo Montalban) in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” and it’s the classic dialogue that ends with Shatner’s immortal scream of “Khan!!!!!!”

    God, I’m such a geek.

Jay Tea got #3. It’s one of my favorite bits from the film — right up there with, “I’m laughing at the superior intellect!” ;)

I must be the king dork because no one else has identified #8 as Citizen Kane. I have the 2 DVD experience!

    w00t! That’s all ten identified.

By the way, I have the same two-disc Citizen Kane set. It was one of the first DVDs I bought for myself. Nine bucks, used.

    Tsk tsk tsk…
    Wrong on all counts.
These are all quotes directly taken from the “Behind the Scenes” featurette from “Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings.” Pht. Losers.

Obviously I’m way too late, but I wanted to brag that I got 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 9 right off the bat and also knew 3 and 6 but couldn’t remember right away.
