I Heart Huckabees: go see it. Go see it today. Seriously, the film has it all — an original concept, laugh-out-loud pseudo-philosophy, standout performances by Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, Jason Schwartzman, and Mark Wahlberg, and the most inspired take on the art of existential detection since Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. Two thumbs up.
My top ten movies of 2004 (to date) follow after the jump.
10. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
9. The Ladykillers
8. Anchorman
7. Spider-Man 2
6. Dodgeball
5. Kill Bill: Vol. 2
4. Garden State
3. Fahrenheit 9/11
2. I Heart Huckabees
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Great blog–and thanks for the movie recommendations. I just got a Netflix account, so I get to catch up on everything I’ve missed this year being at home with the kids.
I thought I was the last one who didn’t have a Netflix account. I’ve remedied the situation; thanks for the recommendations. I may even go to the theater tonight.
I’ve been trying to get Heather to go see it, but some other movie gets in the way like The Motorcycle Diaries or Team America.
OH lord that was so fantastic. I walked out of there thinking that I’d just seen the little crack of enlightenment that so very often passes overhead but by the time you notice it, its gone…LOVED IT! God bless pseudo intellectual markie mark…
Excellent list! I agree with Huckabees, excellent movie. I have yet to see eternal sunshine, but given the rest of the list, I am definitely there.
