Save some individuality for everyone else

I spotted a student on campus earlier today wearing a fedora with his t-shirt and jeans and smoking a downright Sherlock Holmesian pipe. Sorry, pal — you’re only allowed one gimmick at a time. It’s either the hat or the pipe, not both. You don’t see Crazy Bathrobe Guy trying to spice up his persona by adding a sombrero to his ensemble, do you? No, he’s content simply to walk around campus wearing his bathrobe and that’s enough. You can’t be Fedora Guy and Pipe Guy, and I certainly don’t think you have what it takes to pull off Fedora-and-Pipe Guy.
