MooLatte

Is it just me, or does the name of Dairy Queen’s new frozen blended coffee drink — the MooLatte — cause the word “mulatto” to spring to anyone else’s mind? I wonder if Her Royal Majesty the Dairy Queen devised the sly double entendre herself.

Being that I’m taking an ethics class center around slavery, now, you are not alone thinking of mulatto with the product.
I know! We’ll call ‘em TasteSicles!
you know, i was not informed until last year that mulatto was an ethnic slur. i, my friends, my parents, and even my african studies professor use this term to describe those of mixed african and european heritage.
im sure its preferable to oreo, zebra, or half-breed. but what do i know, im just another honky.
No, you’re not the only one. And I don’t even drink coffee.
Nice to see another polisci major in the big ol’ blogosphere.
While you people aren’t alone in seeing this correlation of words, I think it says something about how your minds work when you see a commercial for a Dairy Queen coffee drink and ethnic slurs come to mind.
You must be lawyers.
The name came about because they were in a room thinking of dumb names for another product to make america fatter, and couldn’t think of anything better than: “well, it has coffee, and it has milk” , “cows and milk”, “moojuice, latte”, “moolatte!”
it wasn’t some vast conspiracy by rich white men who wish for mulattos to be enslaved and are taking their anger out in a commercial product name.
P.S. Warren Buffet owns a large portion of Dairy Queen and his son is now sponsoring a nationwide tour of Native American dance (http://www.spirit7thfire.com/), I highly doubt that anything racist slides at that company.
All I thought of was cows. Speaking of oreos, maybe we should get Nabisco to change the name of their famous cookie.
All I’m seeing is people who don’t know how to pronounce a product. These people, I’m assuming, are calling this a Moo-Lotta. Thats not how it’s pronounced. It’s a Moo-Latte, ya know, like a coffee LATTE drink. Hello? It’s a COFFEE based ice cream drink! Duh!! How hard is this to figure out? ……….
The name MooLatte’ is about cows, coffee, and having fun at Dairy Queen.
