Where have all the good jobs gone?
Posted on June 9, 2004 @ 11:30 am
As my job search continues, I can’t help but notice that quite a few job applications these days include sections detailing the kinds of physical activities required by the position — oftentimes accompanied by lovely stick figures sitting, bending over, and so forth. Every time I come across one of these sections in an application, I secretly hope that the job will require something a little more exciting than occasionally lifting 25 pounds. Something more like this…

Sadly, the excitement level for most jobs seems to top out somewhere around “overhead reaching.” Sigh…

Did you create that diagram yourself? If so, I think your new job should be to apply that idea to the concept behind your previous post. That diagram has t-shirt written all over it.
I agree whole heartedly with JP’s statement above! That was ROFL funny!
Thanks, guys! It’s my own diagram — well, the framing text and standing/sitting/lifting figures are from an actual job application, but the kicking ass and taking names figures are my own.
