    hi there,

I am the head of Tristar - we own the rights to the ‘Short Circuit’ series. I know you think I am probably a ’square’ but listen up hepcats.

The next Short Circuit film is already in production - Johhny 5 is back and this time he’s just as crazy!

Without giving too much away, Johnny 5 falls in love, could it be with a new military Robot called Madonna? (Mutually Assured Destruction of Nuclear Nanite Application). I aint telling.

There are all sorts of hi-jinks as you would expect. Have you ever seen a robot dance the Macarena, you will!

    Keep watching the skies.

Hello, this is mainly for the so-called “Head of Tristar”. I do hope you are true to your title and not some jerk laughing his rear off at some elaborate prank. (I’m only doubting you because I tried your link and it said the page doesn’t exist. Hmm, I wonder why?) But if you ARE for real, a Short Circuit 3 would ROCK! (wink)

When I was young, I remmember being absoloutely mad about the first and second film.
It might seem a little sad, but I used to watch it over and over, since I couldn’t go outside and play because of my condition.

A third movie would be great. I always did wounder what happened.

Anyway, I thought TriStar was liquified and purchased by Universal in 1998.

    1. Tristar dont even exist no more.

    2. Why the hell would the head of the company post here?.

    3. Johnny 5 Doing the macerena are you insane?…

Well unlike that dude who wants to get peoples hopes up for nothing so far there is no production of a J5 movie…

I suggest you do what i did and email universal studios and beg them to make a 3rd J5 movie, and who knows if enough people ask you never know :)

  11. greer April 24, 2004 3:40 pm

Yeah, it would be nice to see a Short Circuit 3… after all, Hollywood’s churning out 80’s stuff again. But one needs to come up with a good story, otherwise it won’t work. This ’so-called’ head of Tristar is just having everyone on!

Johnny Five is just too cool to forget about. I still think he rocks as the coolest movie robot ever!

I found this. whitch is about short circuit 3.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - Following the tremendous success of the critically-acclaimed 2001 blockbuster Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, movie studios have been scrambling to find other hot ’80s franchises to revive.

Already holding the rights to the Short Circuit series, Columbia Tristar quickly put development of a third film into motion.

A few points of interest about the film’s script are revealed in the plot synopsis available on Columbia Tristar’s website. Johnny 5, the loveable robot protagonist from the first two movies, has apparently decided to join our country’s working force. However, despite being an American citizen (see Short Circuit 2), he encounters relentless discrimination in his job hunt due to his mechanical heritage. Desperate for cash, and finding himself in the San Francisco area, Johnny 5 decides to enter himself into the BattleBots fighting robot tournament.

“We have high expectations for this picture, and are confident that it will pay off,” said Columbia Tristar CEO James Challey. “We wanted to update Short Circuit for the new millennium, and the only thing hotter than ’80s nostalgia right now is BattleBots. This movie is virtually guaranteed not to fail.”

Along with the Johnny 5 robot, the cast includes Bill Nye the Science Guy, Carmen Electra, and former BattleBots Super Heavyweight Champion, Minion. Returning to the series will be Fisher Stevens as inventor Benjamin Jabituya, and Steve Guttenberg as key grip.

If Short circuit 3 does not come out i’ll lose all belief in man kind. Surely everyone can see how good the first two films are.
