General Comments:
The Lo Tek virus was submitted in July, 1994. Its origin or point of
isolation is unknown. Lo Tek is a non-resident direct action infector
of .COM and .EXE programs, but not COMMAND.COM.
When a program infected with the Lo Tek virus is executed, this virus
will infect two .COM or .EXE programs located in the current
directory, with preference given to .COM files over .EXE files.
Infected .COM files will have a file length increase of 859 bytes
while infected .EXE files will increase in size by 856 bytes. In
both cases, the virus will be located at the end of the file. The
program's date and time in the DOS disk directory listing will not be
altered. The following text strings are encrypted within the viral
code:
"*.*"
"MM[BW"
"[Lo Tek] by MnemoniX"
It is unknown what Lo Tek does besides replicate.
