General Comments:
The Infinity virus was received in January, 1992. It is from
Canada. Infinity is a non-resident, direct action infector of
.COM files, including COMMAND.COM.
When a program infected with Infinity is executed, the Infinity
virus will search the current directory for the first uninfected
.COM file. If an uninfected .COM file is found, the virus will
infect it.
Infinity infected .COM files will have a file length increase of
732 bytes. The virus will be located at the end of the infected
file. The file's date and time in the DOS disk directory listing
will not be altered.
The following text strings can be found within the viral code of
Infinity infected programs:
"SKISM ReplicatoR"
"FiRe is a LAMER... destroy InFiniTy!"
"PATH=*.COM"
"????????COM"
It is unknown if Infinity does anything besides replicate.
