General Comments:
The End Of virus was submitted in August, 1992. It is originally
from the USSR. End Of is a memory resident infector of .COM
programs, including COMMAND.COM.
When the first End Of virus infected program is executed, this
virus will install itself memory resident at the top of system
memory but below the 640K DOS boundary. Total system and available
free memory will have decreased by 800 bytes, and interrupt 21 will
be hooked.
Once End Of is memory resident, it will infect .COM programs when
a DOS DIR command is issued. Infected programs will have a file
length increase of 783 bytes with the virus being located at the
end of the infected file. The program's date and time in the
DOS disk directory listing will not be altered. The following
text strings can be found in the viral code in all End Of infected
programs:
"*.com"
"????????COM"
"end of"
It is unknown what End Of may do besides replicate.
