General Comments:
The Elvis-1250 virus was submitted in June, 1993. Its origin or
point of isolation is unknown. Elvis-1250 is a memory resident
infector of .COM programs, but not COMMAND.COM.
When the first Elvis-1250 infected program is executed, the Elvis-
1250 virus will install itself memory resident as a low system
memory TSR of 784 bytes. Interrupt 08 will be hooked by the virus
in memory.
Once the Elvis-1250 virus is memory resident, it will infect .COM
programs other than COMMAND.COM, when they are executed. Infected
programs will have a file length increase of 1,250 bytes with the
virus being located at the end of the file. The program's date and
time in the DOS disk directory listing will not be altered. The
following text strings are encrypted within the Elvis-1250 virus'
code, and are not visible within infected programs:
"ELVIS"
"lives!"
"is watching!"
"DON_Maybe he lives here..."
"Is he really dead? Or Here?"
"Maybe he has a neighbour next door... (You can make up
stories as you go along."
