General Comments:
The Dy virus was submitted in September, 1993. Its origin or point of
isolation is unknown. Dy is a non-resident, direct action infector
of .COM programs, including COMMAND.COM.
When a program infected with the Dy virus is executed, this virus will
infect all of the .COM programs located in the current directory. If
COMMAND.COM is in this directory, it will become infected. Programs
infected with the Dy virus will have a file length increase of 278
bytes with the virus being located at the beginning of the file. The
program's date and time in the DOS disk directory listing will have
been updated to the current system date and time when infection
occurred. The following text strings are visible within the viral
code in all Dy infected programs:
"DY"
"*.COM"
The "DY" text string occurs starting in the third byte of all
infected files.
