General Comments:
The Chaser virus was isolated in June, 1992. Its origin or point
of isolation are unknown. Chaser is a non-resident direct action
infector of .EXE programs.
When a program infected with the Chaser virus is executed, the
Chaser virus will infect one .EXE program located in the current
drive's current directory. Once it has infected a program, a system
hang will occur. The program the user was attempting to execute will
not be run. Programs infected with the Chaser virus will have a
file length increase of 980 to 994 bytes with the virus being located
at the end of the file. The program's date and time in the DOS disk
directory listing will not be altered. No text strings are visible
within the viral code in Chaser infected programs.
