General Comments:
The Billy virus was received in January, 1996. Its origin or point
of isolation is unknown. Billy is a non-resident, direct action
infector of .EXE files.
When a program infected with the Billy virus is executed, this
virus will infect up to five .EXE files located in the current
directory. Infected programs will have a file length increase of
836 to 853 bytes with the virus being located at the end of the
file. The program's date and time in the DOS disk directory
listing will not be altered. The following text strings are
visible within the viral code:
"*.EXE"
"Hi folks, I'm the Billy Ray Virus and I'm here to sing my
number one"
"smash hit, Achey Breaky Hard Disk."
It is unknown what Billy may do besides replicate.
