Its origin or point of isolation is unknown. This virus is a memory resident infector of .EXE programs. The first time a program infected with the 572 virus is executed, this virus will install itself memory resident at the top of system memory but below the 640K DOS boundary. Total system and available free memory, as indicated by the DOS CHKDSK program, will have decreased by 1,024 bytes. Interrupts 21 and 24 will be hooked by the 572 virus in memory. Once the 572 virus is memory resident, it will infect .EXE programs as they are executed. Infected programs will have a file length increase of 572 bytes with the virus being located at the end of the infected file. The program's date and time in the DOS disk directory will have been updated to the system date and time when infection occurred. It is unknown if 572 does anything besides replicate.
