Its origin or point of isolation is unknown. ZZ is a non-resident, direct action infector of .COM programs, including COMMAND.COM. When a program infected with ZZ is executed, the ZZ virus will infect all of the .COM programs located in the current directory. If COMMAND.COM is located in this directory, it will become infected. Programs infected with the ZZ virus will have a file length increase of 429 bytes. The virus will be located at the beginning of the infected file. The program's date and time in the DOS disk directory listing will have been updated to the current system date and time when infection occurred. There are no text strings visible within the viral code. It is doesn't appear to contain any destructive code, though it will occassionally display the following message when an infected program is executed: "ZZ Top the best !!!"
