General Comments:
The Unhandled virus was received in February, 1995. Its origin or
point of isolation is unknown. Unhandled is a memory resident
infector of .COM files, including COMMAND.COM.
When the first Unhandled infected program is executed, this virus
will install itself memory resident in allocated system memory,
hooking interrupt 21. Total system and available free memory, as
indicated by the DOS CHKDSK program, will not be altered.
Once the Unhandled virus is memory resident, it will infect .COM
files when they are executed or opened. Infected .COM files will
have a file length increase of 424 bytes with the virus being
located at the end of the file. The program's date and time will
have been updated to the current system date and time when infection
occurred. The following text string can be found at the end of all
infected files:
"æaisaK"
The Unhandled virus will occassionally clear the system display
and display a message which starts with the phrase:
"Unhandled ..."
A system reboot will then occur.
