General Comments:
The Tokyo virus was discovered in Japan in August, 1991. Tokyo is
a non-resident direct action infector of .EXE programs.
When a program infected with Tokyo is executed, the virus may infect
one .EXE file in the current directory. Infected .EXE programs will
increase in size by 1,258 to 1,273 bytes, with the virus being
located at the end of the infected file.
Systems infected with Tokyo may experience frequent system hangs
when attempts are made to execute infected programs. When the
system hang does not occur, often the infected program will not
behave as the user is expecting, with pauses occurring in output
operations, such as to the system display.
It is unknown if Tokyo does anything besides replicate.
