Space Quest Ring-Tones
Are you tired of hearing an ear-piercing
beep or some silly piece of classical music everytime your cellular phone
rings? Why not replace it with a snazzy new Space Quest ring-tone? That's right--the
Virtual Broomcloset, in cooperation with LucasTones, is proud to present a cell phone ring-tone
that
reproduces Mark Crowe's famous opening Space Quest theme! Just choose your ring-tone format (Nokia or Ericsson) and follow the instructions provided. You'll be the envy of all your friends in no time flat!
Nokia Ring-Tone
To use this ring-tone, you must have
a Nokia (or Nokia-compatible) phone that features the composer function. These include the
3210, 3310, and 3300 models (among others). All you have to do is simply
key the text below into your phone. After it's been properly enterted, you
will be able to listen to your tone immediately and change its tempo at
your discretion. If you have trouble with the custom tone, consult your
phone's manual. Here's a brief rundown on how to use the composer:
1=c
2=d
3=e
4=f
5=g
6=a
7=b
8/9=change note length
0=pause
*=change pitch
#=add a sharp.
The tones here are in the keypress format. In other words, if the text says "(hold 1)*, 58," you should hold down the "1" key, press "*," press "5," and then press "8." So, without further ado, the Broomcloset presents the Space Quest Theme ring-tone...

Ericsson Ring-Tone
Ward van Wanrooij contributed the following ring-tone for use with Ericsson cellular phones. You can listen to this ring-tone in action by clicking here. Here's how you can recreate it on your own Ericsson phone:

That should do it! Now, the next time your cell
phone goes off in the mall, passers-by will know that you're a Space Quest fan. Hopefully, you won't get beaten up as a result. If you have any other Space Quest-related ring-tones you'd like to contribute to the Broomcloset, please get in touch with me. Also, be sure to check out LucasTones for all the finest in custom LucasArts ring-tones.
